Here to help bring the pieces together
The effect of life in society is to complicate and confuse our existence, making us forget who we really are by causing us to become obsessed with what we are not.” - Zhuang Zhou
Sun in Virgo
Ruled by Mercury
For the astrologically inclined - we now have the Sun in Virgo which favours all things closely connected to small animals, holistic health, and efficiency. The sign of Virgo correlates strongly to being of service. The tarot card The Hermit has a close association to this sun sign.
To Make Good Use of the Vibes
Common associations are the colour pale green, and the number 5. The psychic energy of meditation - time to calm the mind and the nerves. It rules the small intestines in the physical body and its zodiac symbol is the virgin. Its keywords are I analyse. For self-development: Meditation has already been mentioned and another nourishing aspect to the essence of Virgo is connected to digestion - pay attention to your diet and maybe think about a detox of sorts. Virgo favours beans, grains, and pulses; whole foods and placing limits on sugary drinks, including alcohol. A month of yoga would work wonders on all levels right now.
Daisy Chains & Marmalade
What works, what doesn’t, what may. Early days for this one so not many posts as yet. Herbalism was one of the first alternatives I encountered; I was converted after discovering the medicinal benefits of sage tea. I became a Tui-na practitioner for a while in my twenties and have since worked my way through a whole host of therapies. I am not averse to western medicine and prefer to use whatever works best for the ailment. In terms of overall health, I do feel and think it’s best to take the mind-body-spirit approach rather than focus on a single aspect. More posts to come soon.
Allegory in Art
A long-time favourite pastime of mine. Looking at the symbols found in art and what they could mean. Posts are initiated by a personal reaction to an image with an emphasis on universal meanings and how to personalise them. Art will often show us what we’re hiding from ourselves.
Living a handcrafted life can be wonderful but if we’re not taking cues from society where else are we supposed to find them? Becoming aware of the signs in our environment can help us to develop a navigation system so we don’t lose ourselves on the path to authenticity.
Man's main task in life is to give birth to himself, to become what he potentially is. The most important product of his effort is his own personality. - Erich Fromm
